Anna McKinnon

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist and have completed extensive training locally and internationally. I completed my PhD at Flinders University in South Australia and then my postdoctoral training at the Medical Research Council Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. I am a full member of the Australian Psychological Society and the EMDR Association of Australia.

In the Beginning

I started taking an interest in psychology long before it became my career.

Growing up in a big family in a country town, I was always observant of the variety of unique and diverse personalities I encountered. At this early stage, I became fascinated in learning about what makes people think, feel and act in diverse ways.

This early fascination led me to a career that delves deep into human behaviour and helps people make positive changes to the way they think, feel and act.

My Therapy Dog, Gigi

My dog Gigi can be present at some sessions if you wish. Lots of my clients find this calming and relaxing. It is also completely fine if this is not something you would like to try. It is also not appropriate for Gigi to be in the room when I use certain techniques. Gigi also loves to hang out in the waiting area lapping up the attention of our lovely administrative staff and clients in the waiting area.
