Psychologists charge a variety of rates depending on experience, practice location and a variety of other factors. McKinnon Psychology’s clinic rates are summarised below.

Fees & Rebates: Information for Patients

The Australian Psychological Association’s recommended rate for Clinical Psychology in 2023-24 is $300.00 for a 50-minute therapy session. Our psychology fees range between $272 and $300 per 50-minute session.

Under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative, patients are entitled to a Medicare rebate to cover part of the session charge for the 10 sessions they have attended in the calendar year.

A referral from a GP or other specialist doctor is only needed if you’d like to use a Medicare rebate. You may also be able to claim a private rebate for psychology services. You should contact your fund about eligibility.

Whilst McKinnon Psychology is not a registered NDIS service provider, we can accept referrals from clients in the NDIS under a self-managed plan. You can read our NDIS service agreement here.
