Victoria Basile

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist who works with individuals and families. I have a Master of Clinical Psychology and Master of Public Health from The University of Sydney and am a guest lecturer on youth mental health at The University of Sydney. I am also a member of the Australian Psychological Society.

In the Beginning

I have always been interested in the big philosophical questions about life and how to live. Initially, I studied medical science and public health, as I was interested in medicine, the healthcare system and what motivated individuals to engage in healthy behaviours.

I was led to a career in psychology following my experiences providing emotional support to vulnerable individuals, and interacting with diverse cultures through my work and travels. I realised that I had an innate ability to connect with people, understand and comfort them, and that this gave me true fulfilment.

A Broad Career Across Therapy, Research and Teaching

I have experience conducting assessments and evidence-based treatment for a variety of mental health issues in hospital, community and not-for-profit settings.

I am grounded in evidence-based practice, having published my Masters thesis in the journal of Patient Education and Counselling and my previous research in the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. I have also worked on research projects through The University of Sydney and Macquarie University on developing assessment measures in children and supporting adult oncology patients.

I enjoy teaching and currently present lectures on the topics of youth mental health for the Master of Brain and Mind Sciences at The University of Sydney.
